At what time/when should you say "Good Morning", "Good Afternoon", " Good Evening" and "Good Night" | Infothora

Are you confused about the time at which you should wish someone "Good Morning", "Good Afternoon", "Good Evening" and "Good Night"?

As we know a day is 24 hrs and is split into morning afternoon and evening,  there are time slots to wishing good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Let's find out.

From 12.00 AM - 11.59 AM you can wish a "Good morning" to others. ie, from the wakeup time to 11.59 AM is the time to wish someone a Good Morning. You can say "Goodbye" while leaving.

From 12.00 PM- 4.59 PM / 5.59 PM is the time you can wish someone a "Good afternoon". You can choose to say good afternoon or not after 5.00 PM, based on your region. While leaving you can say "Goodbye".

From 5.00 PM / 6.00 PM - 11.59 PM is the time you can wish someone a "Good evening". While leaving you can say "Good Night", if you are leaving at the end of the day or when you go to bed.

So, When should you say "Good Night"?

We get confused most of the time about what to say while we are leaving after 7.00 PM. Most of us leave with a "good night" wish. But it is not a proper way. Good Night is reserved to say at the time you go to bed or if you are leaving at the end of the day. So you can say "Goodbye" if you are leaving early.

You should wish "Good night" when you are leaving not when you start a conversation.

These are the general way of using Greetings. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to comment on the comment section below.
